Smiling man in white shirt and captain's hat with 'Viking Fleet' text.

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Captain Paul G. Forsberg, the pioneer of the Viking Fleet.

Paul took the reins of the Viking Fleet from his father, Captain Carl Forsberg, and built the company to what it is today. Paul designed and built the 104Ft Viking Star in 1970, and then later in 1977 built the 144Ft steel Viking Starship. He also built the Viking Fivestar alongside his son, Captain Steven Forsberg Sr., and his grandsons Captain Steven Forsberg Jr and Captain Carl Forsberg.
Captain Paul discovered almost all of the proven fishing grounds off Montauk, Block Island, and further out to Georges Banks… grounds that the Viking Boats still fish today.
He will be remembered by everyone who fished with the Viking Fleet, his family and friends, and everyone else in the party boat industry, as well as the commercial fishing industry.
Paul passed away at 86 years old surrounded by family and friends while telling seafaring tales of his vast time on the ocean. He will be missed.
“Fair tides and following seas, Captain.”
