Captain Dave reports that this mornings trip was a good one. It was a light crowd on the Star, so there was no pool today. The fishing started out well, and continued with a steady pick all day. A good sized mix of fish were caught, but most were on the smaller side. A few sea bass were caught and released unharmed as well. Towards the end of the trip the fishing started to die down, and only couple of porgies were caught . Everyone hit their limit today.

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies – Viking Star Captain Dave reports a slow morning of fishing today, but we made out okay towards the end of the trip. The weather was nasty this morning, but as it cleared up the fishing became better. The fish were off bite in the morning and gave us a slow start, but came back around in a last few hours and we managed to put together a good catch to end the trip. Not too many jumbos today, more of a large mix. The pool winner was Carlos Cuautla from Astoria, Queens with a 2.5 porgy.

Lots of mixed size fish were coming over the rails, and just about everyone hit their limit. He said 99.9% of the porgies that were caught were keepers. A few sea bass, and one striped bass were also caught and released unharmed. There was no pool today, but biggest fish that was caught was just a little over 3lbs.

Tile/Cod Wreck: Capt. Steven Jr reports that they had a good trip, but we had to work for it. The tile fishing was on the tough side with a lot of small dog fish bothering us most of the day. But we did finally get away from them in the afternoon, and we were able to get on some solid fishing to save the day! A good shot of hake, barrel fish, and a couple wreck fish ended the day for us. The next day, we got on the cod wrecks and had a few fish on every drop, but we made the day on the last drop. Everyone got a good shot of cod, and few nice pollack to round out our trip. For this trip we had 3 pool winners, for tile fish the winner was Don Wetzel…
