Capt Carl reports very slow fishing on last nights fishing trip. We did mark some fish but I’m seems to still be a little early for the night bite to happen. The good news is that more and more striped bass have been being caught during the day, so the night bite should turn on any day now!

Mon May 21

Captain Dave reports that this mornings trip was a good one. It was a light crowd on the Star, so there was no pool today. The fishing started out well, and continued with a steady pick all day. A good sized mix of fish were caught, but most were on the smaller side. A few sea bass were caught and released unharmed as well. Towards the end of the trip the fishing started to die down, and only couple of porgies were caught . Everyone hit their limit today.

Sun May 20

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies – Viking Star Captain Dave reports a slow morning of fishing today, but we made out okay towards the end of the trip. The weather was nasty this morning, but as it cleared up the fishing became better. The fish were off bite in the morning and gave us a slow start, but came back around in a last few hours and we managed to put together a good catch to end the trip. Not too many jumbos today, more of a large mix. The pool winner was Carlos Cuautla from Astoria, Queens with a 2.5 porgy.

Sun May 13

Montauk Spring Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports that today’s porgy trip had a slow start but instantly picked up. Lots of mixed size fish were coming over the rails, and just about everyone hit their limit. He said 99.9% of the porgies that were caught were keepers. A few sea bass, and one striped bass were also caught and released unharmed. There was no pool today, but biggest fish that was caught was just a little over 3lbs.
